Heather
Mom to Baby lost at 15 weeks
 November 2010
Elkview, West Virginia

After having a completely normal pregnancy in 2007, I gave birth to a beautiful healthy 7lb. 11oz baby boy that my husband and I named, Landon. He was the light of our lives. My husband Josh and I had gotten married in 2002 while we were still in high school. We loved our married life but had originally planned on waiting a while til we had children. All of that changed when we found out we were pregnant a few months before our 4th wedding anniversary.

My Husband and I have been together since January 2003, and we married on November 30,2005. We decided that we wanted children from day one. I knew that there would be some obstacles, like the fact that I have PCOS.

My husband and I got married in June of 2008, in July of 2008 I was referred to a Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE) because after a year off birth control I had only had two cycles. I was diagnosed with PCOS and was told I do not ovulate on my own. I was put on Clomid. I took it for two months, never having more than one follicle but at least that one was big enough I could take the trigger shot to ovulate. Both cycles failed. My third cycle on clomid when I went in for my follicle check my follicle was not big enough. They had me come in a few days later, and it still was too small for the trigger shot. So I decided to take a small break for a month or two. About three weeks after my follicle check I took a test one morning because I hadn't been feeling well and sure enough I was pregnant. We were over joyed and told everyone right away.

My husband and I were married on March 8, 2003.  We had talked about kids early on, but years passed and I was getting older, and we had just kind of decided on no kids.  We were enjoying our own time so much that time had kind of snuck up on us.

First, I would like to share with you briefly my history. I am originally from CT and moved out to IL about 4 ½ years ago because of my husband’s job transfer. All of my family and friends are back in CT. Needless to say it was a major adjustment to be so far away from my biggest supporters especially when you have a loss such as this. My husband and I were living the American Dream. We bought a house and both have jobs so what comes next, the family. Back in 2009 we started on our journey of making our dream even bigger.

I still remember finding out that I was pregnant for the first time. I was so happy even though my situation with the Daddy wasn't the best. Just knowing that I was carrying a little tiny person inside of me made me the happiest person alive. To be totally honest I couldn't believe that I was actually pregnant so I ended up taking like six tests and of course they all came back positive! At that moment I finally had enough proof to know that it was really true... I was going to be a mommy! I called and told the Daddy that we were pregnant. He wasn't to happy, because our relationship was on the rocks. I figured he would come around to accept the idea that we were going to be parents.

Our Little Angel, Miscarried August 25th, 2010

My husband and I have 2 daughters, ages 5 1/2 and 3 years old.  We were always surprised by their pregancies.  When we found out we were pregnant with our 3rd baby, we had so many emotions running through our minds. Exciement, anticipation, we were scared, we were sad, we were happy.  In the back of my mind I knew something was not quite right, even from the very beginning.  I had spotting at 4 weeks when I found out I was pregnant.  I had cramps and bleeding everyday.  I went to the dr., went to the specialists, and had a few ultrasounds.  I was told everything looked good.  My HCG numbers were doubling as they should.  I just could not shake the feeling that something was wrong.

Face of loss: From the moment I got married, my husband and I had started picking out baby names and had talked frequently about starting a family. I felt like we needed to wait a couple years and have some “couple” time, and he wanted to start right away. Fortunately for me, I won that argument and managed to hold off on trying for a baby for just over 2 years after our wedding in October of 2007. When our 2 year anniversary came, we really sat down and discussed what our “plan” was going to be. We agreed to start trying in January of 2010, but also decided that for the remainder of 2009 (it was only November and December left, after all), we would take the course of “not trying, not preventing”.

In June of 1999 I learned I was pregnant for the first time. Less than 2 years after getting married I was excited, nervous and anxious for the uncertainty that would come with having a baby. In the weeks ahead my husband and I grew increasingly more excited of the fact that our first child was on the way. We took a trip to the hospital for our first ultrasound so anxious to see the baby for the first time. I only anticipated excitement, however, after many minutes of the nurse poking and prodding to find a heartbeat she went to get the doctor and he returned to inform us that the baby didn't have a heartbeat. I was only 8 weeks pregnant and was so unaware and naive. I thought, maybe just maybe, my baby just was growing faster and their measurements were wrong. Or that perhaps it was too early to hear a heartbeat. Unfortunately our worst fear, a fear we didn't think was even a possibility, came true. A couple days later I went in for a D&C and we moved on with the hope that someday we'd be blessed with this child we longed for the entire year it took to conceive and in the weeks I was pregnant.

Nick and I had been happily married for nine months, when we decided that children were our next step to becoming a family. So in August of 2009, we started trying to conceive and lucky for us we were immediately pregnant. I had never even thought about miscarriage. My friends had never talked about it and I thought, it can never happen to me. Well I was wrong. I started having brown spotting about a week later after getting our BFP and went to a festival five hours away only to start bleeding heavily. That night I stood in the shower crying and crying over again.

Chemical Pregnancy- January 22nd, 2009
Long Island, New York

In 1 year, I have suffered 3 miscarriages, I chemical pregnancy, 3 D&Cs, 2 cycles of IVF, 6 IUIs, an HSG and Lap procedure, OHSS, given hundreds of vials of blood, given myself hundreds, if not a thousand shots, been diagnosed with auto immune and thrombophilia issues, and have cried an infinite number of tears.  My journey to become a mother has changed me.  This is my story.

We starting trying for a family in October 2008. We were thrilled when we finally saw two lines after a couple of months in Jan 2009. We went in for our first ultrasound and there was no heartbeat. We had a follow-up a week later and still no heartbeat. I had a D&C the same day. It was really hard time for us.

I was so excited to find out that i was pregnant! It's what my husband and I wanted, we wanted to start a family.  All was going well, and when I was 7 weeks I went and had a dating scan done.  There was my tiny baby, growing inside of me and it's little heart was beating strong :)  I couldn't contain my tears, I was so happy to know that my little one was alive and growing.

Missed Miscarriage at 6 weeks in June 2008
Atlanta, Georgia

I think I always knew that I wanted to be a mom. As an only child I was always older than my years I suppose. I vividly recall babysitting for various neighbors at the young age of 12 and imagining – hoping – dreaming that my life would someday revolve children and preparing lunches, getting the little ones down for naps, etc. It was a nice dream.

My angel was a very welcome surprise.  I remember the day that I took the first pregnancy test, and the second and the third.  I can still remember the first time I heard her heartbeat and saw her on the ultrasound screen.  I remember the horrible morning sickness and aching breasts.  At 6 weeks my doctor told me that the baby was doing great and had a strong heartbeat.  My boyfriend Johnny and I cried and wished for a little girl.  I was so excited for my next appointment.

Miscarried May 20th, 2009

I went for a 12 week ultrasound and saw my little one.  I had been having nightmares for weeks that there would be no heartbeat during the sonogram.  I was so scared to go.  I call her Apple but I don’t know if this baby was a girl or a boy.  I just think of her as a girl, I don’t know why.  Apple was sucking her thumb and moving around.  Her heartbeat was low but not too low and the tech said it was perfectly normal.   Well she appeared fine and my boyfriend said “See you were worried and nothing is wrong”.  Since we were past the 12 week mark,  I told everyone I was pregnant.  I was so happy and relieved she was fine.  I walked around happy for the next few weeks and bought an outfit for her.

My period was due October 5, 2006. I kind of had the feeling I was pregnant, had taken a pregnancy test, and it was negative, that was October 4. The next day I started to bleed, and of course, rubbed it off as my period.

My husband and I had been married for four years.  We had dodged questions for years of "when are you guys going to have kids?!".  We were just never ready.  We had always taken the right precautions to prevent pregnancy, and knew that when the time was right, we would start trying for a baby.  That time was our fourth wedding anniversary.  To our complete surprise, we learned we were pregnant right away.  We were so excited! I never believed in a million years it would happen on the first try.  We shared the news with friends and family, and carried on day to day with a huge smile on our faces.

My husband and I always said we would start trying to have a baby after 2 years of marriage. When the time came I was so excited, but I was afraid that things weren't going to be easy. I have endometriosis, and I've had several surgeries to remove it and tried different therapies but it always seemed to come back. After my last surgery in late 2008 my doctor said that things didn't look that bad, but I should try to get pregnant soon.
