The story of our baby girl, Mina, everything that happened leading up to her birth and then, her passing. Just a warning though, that I do talk about girl parts for obvious reasons, so if that's too much information for you stop reading here. : )

Having a baby was never easy for me.  I had my first miscarriage at 12 weeks in September 2001.  My second miscarriage at 5 weeks was in March of 2005.  My third and last miscarriage at 7 weeks was march of 2007.  In January of 2008 I was pregnant again and I thought for sure I would miscarry again.

Maggie
Mom to Caris AnnaBelle Tate
January 30th, 2011 - February 5th, 2011
Newport News, Virginia

I had the best pregnancy of anyone I have ever met. I never had any morning sickness, I didn't gain a lot of weight, I always took my vitamins, I saw my doctor a couple times a month... the only issue my husband and I thought we may be facing is possible Down Syndrome, which was mentioned at our 20-week ultrasound. While that came as a huge blow to us (I cried every night for Caris, praying that if she did have Down Syndrome, that the Lord would bless her with the ability to still enjoy life to the fullest).

Born and Died July 19th, 2005

I never realized how delicate life was until I lost my two infant sons.

I am a mother to a little boy, who is eleven, going on fifty, and I am also the mother to two other little boys who never got to see the sun rise or the sun set. When strangers saw my round belly two years later (while I was then-pregnant with my little one, who is now three), they used to ask me, “Oh, is this your first?” And I didn’t know if I should tell them, “No, this is my fourth, but I lost two,” or keep them out of my business and simply smile and tell them, “No, this is my second.” But if I had told them the latter, I would have ended up feeling guilty, as if I were denying my two little boys’ existence.

It took my husband and I almost three years to get pregnant. We spent a full year trying to get pregnant on our own before we finally went to the doctor frustrated, angry, and exhausted. After almost two years of medications and having surgery to open my tubes we finally got pregnant in August 2010. It sounds funny, but I was shocked. I had just been so used to the negative pregnancy tests that the positive one did not seem real. Right from the start I was terrified that I was going to lose this pregnancy.

We found out in 2008 that we were expecting triplets. We were shocked and surprised, but soon began to anticipate the arrival of our identical boy’s. At first the pregnancy seemed to be going well. I was hospitalized a few times for extreme nausea, but otherwise things looked good.

I had always loved children, have the biggest love for them ever since the age of 12. I babysat families babies ages infant to 9 years old. Worked in a daycare & was a nanny for a 3 month old baby boy & soon a few months later his baby sister. I dreamed about the day I would be able to have my own someday! I just had that natural love care for children.

Mom to John Robert (Rip) Harris
November 11th, 2010 - November 18th, 2010
Charleston, South Carolina

I found out that I was pregnant two days after Easter in 2010.  The two weeks leading up to taking the pregnancy test I had a sneaking suspicion something was up because I kept getting really really hot and I am NEVER hot.  I woke my husband Parke up and told him the news by saying, "Do you really want to go to Costa Rica?" (we had a deal that if I got pregnant, he could go to Costa Rica on a surfing trip...probably not the most mature way to negotiate a baby but there you have it)...after looking understandably confused for a few seconds he was pretty excited.  Ever the cautious one, he warned me not to tell too many people right away.  Ever the wreckless one, I think I called my mom before I pulled out of the driveway that morning.

I will never forget the day I took that first positive pregnancy test. January 23, 2010. I was having a few of the usual symptoms.  I was tired, grumpy and a little nauseous at times, my period wasn't even late yet but I had never felt the way I was feeling before and thought I'd take a pregnancy test.  When it came back negative I'd cross the possibility of being pregnant off the list. I took the test and then sat it on the counter. I was so sure it would be negative I didn't even think to look at it until after I had already washed my hands. When I looked down I saw two perfectly pink lines. It didn't even take me two seconds to decide I was excited about it. Maybe everything in my life wasn't as in order as I had imagined it should be when I got pregnant, but I was growing a little person inside of me and knowing that was the best combination of emotions I have ever felt.

Kate
Mom to Shannon Elizabeth January 16th - January 19th, 2007
and Peanut Shelbe - EDD April 10th, 2008
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

In the summer of 2006, I hadn't been feeling good a lot. A pregnancy test revealed my first pregnancy was starting! We went for an ultrasound in the fall. We were so excited. By this time we could already feel the baby kicking. I just wanted to know what I was having so I could start buying outfits, toys, and all that good stuff. We went to have the ultrasound that morning without a care in the world. The tech started doing the ultrasound. She was taking a long time, like she was having trouble. She said she couldn't find her stomach and I might have to go to a different hospital. I didn't care; I just wanted to know what it was! The baby had its legs crossed and she couldn't tell. She finished up and told me to go back downstairs to my OB's office. My doctor came in the room and was asking if I could get to a downtown hospital right now. Then he asked Steve and me if anyone had mentioned anything about a hernia. We told him no, but he didn't reply, just told us to get down to the other hospital and he would call ahead. On the twenty minute ride down to the hospital, I wasn't scared, just disappointed that I still didn't know what I was having. Steve, I think, seemed uneasy.

Mary
Mom to Gage Warren Pruitt
October 13th, 2008-July 7th, 2009
Harvest, AL

When our daughter was about 18 months old, my husband and I decided we were ready for another baby. A couple of months later, I got a positive pregnancy test...we were so excited! Morning sickness kicked in immediately and just wouldn't let up. In fact I ended up with a PICC line during my pregnancy so I could receive IV fluids and anti-nausea medicine at home. I was also plagued with a constant nagging feeling that something was wrong with my baby. I had an overwhelming feeling of dread that I was going to lose him. I was so ready for Gage to be born so I could make sure he was alright.

Sheryl
Mom to Mackenzie Violet Miller
August 27th, 2010 - August 28th, 2010
Rancho Cucamonga, California

Starting in December 2009, my husband and I started on the journey of using fertility shots to start our family. I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome when I was 15-years-old, and I knew it would take some challenges to get pregnant. We did the fertility treatments for three months. In February 2010 I was on my third round of fertility treatments and the doctor’s were considering the treatments as they were taking longer than a month for my ovaries to mature. However, they decided to up the dosage I was getting and I had three mature eggs.

Jenette
Mom to Anthony
Born March 9th, 2008
Died March 15th, 2008
Murrieta, California

My name is Jenette and I had severe Pre-e with elevated liver enzymes. Like many of you I didn't know I had symptoms until after I knew what Pre-e was. I remember 2-3 weeks before going to the hospital saying there was glitter in the sky at school. It literally looked like someone dumped glitter from the 2nd level. I'll try giving you the short story.

Where do I begin to tell the story about one of "God's greatest gifts?" I know people may think I am crazy by saying this but this year I finally figured it out...God picks only the very special people to be parents of his "angels".  I am so sad yet honored that I got to carry her...So this is where my story begins.

Mom to Jasper Thomas
March 4th, 2009 to March 6th, 2009
and 3 early miscarriages
February 2007 at 5 weeks 6 days
November 2007 at 5 weeks 1 day
and May 2008 at 4 weeks 2 days
Citrus Springs, Florida

I first found out about you on Sept 30, 2008. I was at work and thinking about going to get pregnancy tests all morning. I had a very strong feeling that you were there. Finally, it was 12:20 and I rushed out to buy those tests. I was so anxious to test that I don’t even think I ate lunch that day. When I got back to work I rushed into the bathroom and took that pregnancy test. I was so afraid to look at the test that my heart was beating so fast and so loud. It was very dark in the bathroom and was very hard to see the test, so I brought it into the laundry room where it was very bright. There were two lines; I started crying. You were going to be the dream baby I always wanted.

Bobbie
Mom to Johnathan JT Thomas Michael Poling
August 29th, 2006 - May 17th, 2007

We were blessed with the birth of our son on August 29, 2006. He was born 15 weeks early, and weighing a whopping 1lb 15 1/2 ounces and 13 1/4 in. We name him Johnathan Thomas Michael Poling,  JT for short. His name was a long as he was. We laughed about that. My husband didn’t want a Junior but, me and his mom threw the Michael in there. My husband’s name is Michael Thomas, so, either way you put it, he was a junior in a round about sorta way. JT was also named after his great grandfather whose name was Johnathan Thomas. I had placenta previa complete with JT and my placenta abrupted and I started bleeding uncontrollably, So, after being in the hospital for 2 weeks it was emergency c-section time.

Ashley
Mom to Andrew Monroe
November 4th, 2007 - November 30th, 2007
State Road, North Carolina

My husband, Skip, and I met 7 years ago, and finally married March, 2, 2007. We were so happy to actually be married, and were excited to start a family. We found out that we were expecting at the end of June 07. We were so elated to be bringing our first little one into the world. The expected due date was 2-21-08, which fell in between the rest of the family's birthdays. Mine is 2-14, and my husbands is 2-20, not to mention the rest of the family with Feb. birthdays. so the two of us argued about who's birthday our li'l one's would end up falling on. The 21st would have been solely his though.
