Erica
Mom to Kylie Joy
June 11th, 2007
Belleville, Illinois

For most people, June 11th, 2007 came and went without any special notice. It was just another Monday with its normal daily commutes; people soaking up the sun’s rays on the California beaches, while cab drivers honked ferociously at jay walkers in New York City. However for me, it was the day that time stood still as I had to make the decision of whether or not to allow my daughter to die. At nearly twenty-three weeks pregnant and my third time in labor, little Kylie was coming into the world, ready or not.

Our story begins in October of 2010 when my fiance Jordan and I found out we were pregnant. We were excited, but also scared. This was our first pregnancy and we had no idea the amount of love we would experience for our baby. I had nausea a lot early in pregnancy and as we reached 15 weeks, my nausea subsided and I started to enjoy all aspects of my pregnancy. I felt so happy and full of life (literally). At around 16-17 weeks I started having some pain in my lower abdomen area but when I told my doctor and researched online, I was told it was round ligament pain and dismissed. It subsided slowly until it was gone.

I selected my OB based strictly on geography.  When I asked my general doctor for a referral, she knew of only one doctor in the area near my work.  I called the office and scheduled an appointment for infertility.  We had been trying for a year and a half with no success and I was ready to talk to someone who might be able to help.  Since I’m a teacher, I called at the beginning of my summer and they didn’t have any openings until the end of my summer.  However, one week before my appointment I took a pregnancy test and found out I was pregnant.  We were so excited, we’d been married almost five years and now we were going to be parents!  I called the office and changed my infertility appointment to a pregnancy confirmation appointment.

Mother to Kristen Eva
Born November 19th, 2010, Left that same evening
Bellevue, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada
I didn't know on that day that things were going to go horribly wrong. I knew that I was leaking a small bit of fluid, but maybe it wasn't fluid, maybe I was being overcautious. None the less, I called my Mother in Law to come look after Jenna, my two year old, while I ran to the hospital. I really didn't think anything was serious.. I was singing in the truck on the way into town for God's sake! I grabbed a bite before I went up to emergency... I was just going to make sure everything was alright.... It wasn't.

Mom to Nicholas John

Oakhurst, California

My husband and I found out we were expecting our fourth child in February of 2010. I was very scared about having another child as my hands were pretty full with our other children. Bradley was 7, Emily was 5 & Wesley was 2. I was excited to be giving my other children a new sibling and I was even more excited that my oldest two would know a little more about what was happening to my body.I knew they would be super excited to welcome a new baby to our home! I couldn't wait and told everyone I knew as soon as I took the test!

My husband & I conceived Liam shortly after we were married. I was consumed with the desire to have a child once I met Greg. I had found forever. The one. And I wanted us to share our lives with a child. I couldn’t wait to pass on family traditions & take care of something that needed me. To nurture & love a baby. To raise a child.

I’m Still With You
A Journey Through Loss
By Jacoby’s Mom

On August 31, 2010 at just about 3 a.m. I was dreaming. In my dream I was in a bathtub. I had been having vivid dreams the entire pregnancy that were almost annoying. This was no exception. I’m dreaming that I’m in the middle of a mall in a bath tub and passer-bys are admiring my tattoo on my lower back. I feel the water rushing in between my legs and suddenly I wake up to realize that it’s not a dream. My nightmare began.

Mom to Mackenzie Violet Miller
August 27th, 2010 - August 28th, 2010
Rancho Cucamonga, California

Starting in December 2009, my husband and I started on the journey of using fertility shots to start our family. I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome when I was 15-years-old, and I knew it would take some challenges to get pregnant. We did the fertility treatments for three months. In February 2010 I was on my third round of fertility treatments and the doctor’s were considering the treatments as they were taking longer than a month for my ovaries to mature. However, they decided to up the dosage I was getting and I had three mature eggs.

Sydney
Mom to Claire Sandra
Born and Passed lovingly on October 28th, 2010
Tempe, Arizona

Claire’s story begins in the Summer of 2008 when I was first diagnosed with PCOS. My husband and I knew that having a child would require a bit more planning for us then for the average couple. We decided to begin the process of trying to conceive in the spring of 2010. We did not expect that we would be lucky enough to find ourselves pregnant within three months of trying to conceive. Our quick conception was a blessing!

Mom to Logan Timothy

5:27 p.m. - 6:40 p.m.
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

My husband, Tim, and I were married in May of 2005.  Around our 4 year anniversary, we decided we were ready to start our family and assumed it would happen quickly – everyone on either side of our families seems very fertile.  Well, 9 very long months later, we FINALLY conceived our first child.  We were cautious, but SO excited.  I had horrible morning sickness practically all day every day from weeks 6 to 18, but was thrilled – everyone kept assuring us this meant a healthy baby.  At our 20-week ultrasound, we found out we were having a boy.  I have had a name picked out for a boy for a very long time and my husband was neutral on it, but immediately after the tech said “it’s a boy!,” I burst into tears and begged that we name him Logan.  How could my husband say no to his crying pregnant wife?!?!  We also found out that he appeared to be perfectly healthy.  We were thrilled and went off to Baby’s R Us that day to buy him his first outfit and a few books.  We also started our registry.  We finally felt “safe” and that we’d be bringing home our little boy at the beginning of September.

Autumn
Mom to Nola Sophia
Born at 22 weeks
Grosse Point, Michigan

After celebrating our 1 year anniversary my husband and I were ecstatic to find out that we were pregnant! It was an easy pregnancy compared to what others had told me of their experiences. We were relieved that we were able to conceive in just one month since we didn’t know what to expect. I had very little morning sickness and on most days my complaint was that I didn’t “feel” pregnant.

When I was 20 weeks pregnant with her, I went into false labor, and she ended up dropping into the birth canal.

It all began at my cousins wedding; My sister in law was about 20 weeks pregnant and showing beautifully. My Fiancée Tyler immediately fell in love with her growing belly and seemed to cater to her every need that night. It didn't come to much shock when he said that next day that he was ready to be a dad. Three weeks later, sure enough I saw those two pink lines. We were ecstatic!!

My story is two, separate stories. I am a 30 year old woman, and after trying for nearly 2 years to become pregnant, on January 4th, 2010, to my surprise received a late Christmas present. I was finally expecting! Praise the Lord! I was ecstatic! I couldn’t believe it!

Dawn
Mom to Cole and Dillen
Born and Died February 23rd, 2009
Ferndale, Michigan

Our story begins with the hands down, no comparison, happiest moment of my life.  I was 38 and my partner, Theresa was 45.  We had been together over 8 years and finally decided to try to start a family and then rode the infertility roller coaster that so many women endure.  We had been anxiously awaiting the call; at last the phone rang and it was our nurse confirming that my blood test was positive and I WAS PREGANT!  After talking with the nurse, my doctor came on the line and said, “You are SO pregnant!”  “There is probably more than one!” My numbers were very high.  Never in my life had I sobbed with such raw emotion – tears of pure joy!
