June 26th, 2009 - June 30th, 2009
Colorado Springs, Colorado

The story of our family began on my 30th birthday. It was about that time, that after six years of marriage, my husband Chris and I finally began to feel baby fever. We threw a huge birthday party to celebrate this new decade of life for me with all our family and friends. Meanwhile, we secretly celebrated an end to life being only about just the two of us, and the beginning of an exciting new chapter of parenthood. What felt like two seconds later, I was pregnant.

Having a baby was never easy for me.  I had my first miscarriage at 12 weeks in September 2001.  My second miscarriage at 5 weeks was in March of 2005.  My third and last miscarriage at 7 weeks was march of 2007.  In January of 2008 I was pregnant again and I thought for sure I would miscarry again.

I had the best pregnancy of anyone I have ever met. I never had any morning sickness, I didn't gain a lot of weight, I always took my vitamins, I saw my doctor a couple times a month... the only issue my husband and I thought we may be facing is possible Down Syndrome, which was mentioned at our 20-week ultrasound. While that came as a huge blow to us (I cried every night for Caris, praying that if she did have Down Syndrome, that the Lord would bless her with the ability to still enjoy life to the fullest).

Mom to Maddox
September 14th, 2010 - January 14th, 2011
Dixon, Illinois

I got pregnant in December 2009. I am a teen so at first it seemed like a bad situation but I knew I was made to be a mother. Abortion or Adoption never crossed my mind. I knew I wanted to love and be with my child, and my entire pregnancy I studied, researched, and prepared for my beautiful son. I put my whole self into every decision I made for him and when he finally entered this world on September, 14th, 2010, my whole life changed. I was so ready to be a parent. I loved my son so much already.

It was a Friday like any other Friday. J woke up and got ready for work. As he got out of the shower, I woke up and jumped in the shower. J left for work, and I finished getting ready. This was our routine for the last 4 months. Once I got dressed, hair done, makeup done I made a cup of coffee and got S' breakfast ready. Fruit and milk. I could hear her little gibberish over the speaker of the baby monitor. I peeked in on her and she was slowly starting to stir. I turned on her mobile and closed the door, knowing this would keep her attention for awhile bit longer as I continued to get prepared for the day.

It took my husband and I almost three years to get pregnant. We spent a full year trying to get pregnant on our own before we finally went to the doctor frustrated, angry, and exhausted. After almost two years of medications and having surgery to open my tubes we finally got pregnant in August 2010. It sounds funny, but I was shocked. I had just been so used to the negative pregnancy tests that the positive one did not seem real. Right from the start I was terrified that I was going to lose this pregnancy.

I had always loved children, have the biggest love for them ever since the age of 12. I babysat families babies ages infant to 9 years old. Worked in a daycare & was a nanny for a 3 month old baby boy & soon a few months later his baby sister. I dreamed about the day I would be able to have my own someday! I just had that natural love care for children.

Mom to Adam James
November 13th, 2010 - January 11th, 2011
Pasadena, Maryland

Adam had a cold a few days before the hospitalization that led to his death. He was our fussy little guy, but with his cold, his fussiness increased. He slept a lot and when he was awake, he fussed. He had a lot of congestion, which made it difficult for him to eat. We were constantly using the bulb syringe to help him breathe better. Around 10:30 pm on 1-9-11, I fed Adam and then gave him to my husband so that I could go to bed. Adam was smiling and coo'ing away with my husband, and we both sat back and enjoyed it for about a half hour since this was the first time we saw Adam be so happy in a few days. We both even asked him if he was feeling better. Around 11:30 or so, I headed to bed and my husband stayed up with Adam.

Mom to John Robert (Rip) Harris
November 11th, 2010 - November 18th, 2010
Charleston, South Carolina

I found out that I was pregnant two days after Easter in 2010.  The two weeks leading up to taking the pregnancy test I had a sneaking suspicion something was up because I kept getting really really hot and I am NEVER hot.  I woke my husband Parke up and told him the news by saying, "Do you really want to go to Costa Rica?" (we had a deal that if I got pregnant, he could go to Costa Rica on a surfing trip...probably not the most mature way to negotiate a baby but there you have it)...after looking understandably confused for a few seconds he was pretty excited.  Ever the cautious one, he warned me not to tell too many people right away.  Ever the wreckless one, I think I called my mom before I pulled out of the driveway that morning.

Tara
Mom to Nicholas John
September 28, 2009 to October 3, 2009
Oakhurst, California

My husband and I found out we were expecting our fourth child in February of 2010. I was very scared about having another child as my hands were pretty full with our other children. Bradley was 7, Emily was 5 & Wesley was 2. I was excited to be giving my other children a new sibling and I was even more excited that my oldest two would know a little more about what was happening to my body.I knew they would be super excited to welcome a new baby to our home! I couldn't wait and told everyone I knew as soon as I took the test!

I will never forget the day I took that first positive pregnancy test. January 23, 2010. I was having a few of the usual symptoms.  I was tired, grumpy and a little nauseous at times, my period wasn't even late yet but I had never felt the way I was feeling before and thought I'd take a pregnancy test.  When it came back negative I'd cross the possibility of being pregnant off the list. I took the test and then sat it on the counter. I was so sure it would be negative I didn't even think to look at it until after I had already washed my hands. When I looked down I saw two perfectly pink lines. It didn't even take me two seconds to decide I was excited about it. Maybe everything in my life wasn't as in order as I had imagined it should be when I got pregnant, but I was growing a little person inside of me and knowing that was the best combination of emotions I have ever felt.

Mom to Lewis Jack Warner
December 29th, 2010
Indianapolis, Indiana

I married my high school sweetheart, Jon, nearly eight years ago. After years of playing with nieces and nephews and talking incessantly about what our children would be like, we decided it was time to expand our family. On September 27th of last year we saw two pink lines. We jumped up and down. We kissed. We danced. We nicknamed our little one Ziggy. We immediately shared the news with family. We only made it a few more weeks before we told the world. My due date was set for June 7th, one day before my birthday. My pregnancy was great. Other than being tired and having some headaches, I felt wonderful. My baby bump grew fast, and I loved it. I couldn’t wait to look down and not be able to see my toes. I was blessed to be able to feel butterfly kicks really early too. I never imagined that those kicks wouldn’t get stronger.

Kate
Mom to Shannon Elizabeth January 16th - January 19th, 2007
and Peanut Shelbe - EDD April 10th, 2008
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

In the summer of 2006, I hadn't been feeling good a lot. A pregnancy test revealed my first pregnancy was starting! We went for an ultrasound in the fall. We were so excited. By this time we could already feel the baby kicking. I just wanted to know what I was having so I could start buying outfits, toys, and all that good stuff. We went to have the ultrasound that morning without a care in the world. The tech started doing the ultrasound. She was taking a long time, like she was having trouble. She said she couldn't find her stomach and I might have to go to a different hospital. I didn't care; I just wanted to know what it was! The baby had its legs crossed and she couldn't tell. She finished up and told me to go back downstairs to my OB's office. My doctor came in the room and was asking if I could get to a downtown hospital right now. Then he asked Steve and me if anyone had mentioned anything about a hernia. We told him no, but he didn't reply, just told us to get down to the other hospital and he would call ahead. On the twenty minute ride down to the hospital, I wasn't scared, just disappointed that I still didn't know what I was having. Steve, I think, seemed uneasy.

Mom to Angel "B" Lost June 2009 at 9 weeks
and Ellie Lauree January 15th, 2010 - October 25th, 2010
Apple Valley, Minnesota

Shortly after my husband and I got married in 2006, I discovered I had severe endometriosis. After several rounds of IUI with Clomid and two surgeries, we met with an Infertility specialist. During our 1st invitro round we implanted two embryos and were blessed with our son Max on October 3, 2008. With my endometriosis, we knew we couldn’t wait a long time to have more children, so in the spring of 2009, we started a second round of invitro. I never suspected the pain that was waiting for us…

The past few months have been more than a crazy roller coaster ride. There are no words to express the pain/joy/hurt/happiness I have been through. I guess I am ready to share my story and I hope to bring others hope and peace. Losing a baby is one of the most devastating things any mother can go through. From the time that you see that test that says positive, you are a mother. But, my story is a little different...

My husband & I conceived Liam shortly after we were married. I was consumed with the desire to have a child once I met Greg. I had found forever. The one. And I wanted us to share our lives with a child. I couldn’t wait to pass on family traditions & take care of something that needed me. To nurture & love a baby. To raise a child.

Mom to Gage Warren Pruitt
October 13th, 2008-July 7th, 2009
Harvest, AL

When our daughter was about 18 months old, my husband and I decided we were ready for another baby. A couple of months later, I got a positive pregnancy test...we were so excited! Morning sickness kicked in immediately and just wouldn't let up. In fact I ended up with a PICC line during my pregnancy so I could receive IV fluids and anti-nausea medicine at home. I was also plagued with a constant nagging feeling that something was wrong with my baby. I had an overwhelming feeling of dread that I was going to lose him. I was so ready for Gage to be born so I could make sure he was alright.
