I am 33 years old and my husband and I have been trying to conceive our first child since January 2009. For a long time I thought I would never be married.  I have mild cerebral palsy which affects my left side and I was always aware that this might put some guys off.  But my biggest obstacle to meeting someone was myself - I didn't have much confidence.

Kaiya Rae, the most beautiful baby girl in the whole world (yeah, I’m bit biased here) came into our lives on June 17th, 2010.  Wait.  That’s wrong.  She came into our lives in September, 2009.  She was born June 17th, 2010.  She was a part of our lives the minute we knew she was growing inside me.  I always knew she was a girl.  I could feel it.

Miscarriage August 4th, 2002
Belle Fourche, South Dakota

My husband and I decided to start a family about six months after we were married in September of 1999. After a year of trying we made an appointment and did the whole fertility workup, but the doctor couldn’t find any reason why we weren’t conceiving. Another year went by with no luck and we were at the point of pursuing further testing.

My name is Kassidy Lynn Whitaker and I am 25 year old.  My husband’s name is Kevin Michael Whitaker and he is 26 years old.  We began dating as seniors in high school and have been together ever since.  I guess you could say we are high school sweethearts.  We were married on June 24, 2006.  I am a teacher in a local school system and Kevin works for a missile defense contractor on Redstone Arsenal.  Kevin and I were blessed with our first baby boy, Russ, in December 2007. We knew we wanted more children, but because of complications during my first pregnancy we decided to wait a few years.

It hasn’t been long since we began this journey, but I feel it necessary to fill in some of the holes left in the big picture. Xavier passed away, and I’d like to share how.

The Story of My Son
My husband and I really weren’t trying. But our vacation to Chincoteague Island was going to be the start of us not being as careful. We had no idea that 5 weeks after our vacation we would be pregnant.

Stillborn November 13th, 2010
King of Prussia, Pennsylvania

During the second half of my pregnancy with Charlotte I noticed that it was very different from when I was pregnant with my first daughter Lorelei.  I couldn't feel her move as much, but I chalked it up to the anterior placenta and moving around too much to notice her movement.  At each appointment I would voice my concerns to my doctors who told me to check twice a day, morning and night.  And so I did.

On November 6th I was watching Toy Story 3 with my friends Aaron and Nicole, I went the bathroom (as I frequently do) and noticed some strange discharge so I called the doctor she said if no cramps or bleeding it should be fine. I felt fine and had no issues. I woke up the next day with Sean around 3am, and something just didn't feel right, he had to go to work, so I didn't say anything, I waited until around 4am and called the emergency line again. I was in Labor and Deliver by 5am.

My darling first born died four days before he was due. It was, of course, a perfect pregnancy. Low risk, the midwives kept saying. They were so blase about me, I was referred to the birth centre where it was intended that I would deliver my baby in water. That was until that fateful Thursday when I noticed a subtle change in his movements. In short, he had died some time when I was oblivious and happy and washing his clothes.

I don't really know where the beginning or end of Maggie's story is, and I think I like it that way. Although there was a clear end to Maggie's physical journey, she is very much alive in spirit and in the fabric of our family.

We found out in 2008 that we were expecting triplets. We were shocked and surprised, but soon began to anticipate the arrival of our identical boy’s. At first the pregnancy seemed to be going well. I was hospitalized a few times for extreme nausea, but otherwise things looked good.

I guess my story starts in 2005 when I meet my husband Eddie. I already had a son when I meet him and we had our 2nd son in 2006. In March of 2010 we got married at the church that we attend. We had been talking for a year about wanting to have another baby but wanted to wait till after we got married so we started trying after the wedding. It took a couple months but sure an enough a couple days after my birthday I took a test and it was positive. We were so happy that we were having another little Stephenson growing inside me. We told all the family and close friends but wanted to wait till after the first 12 weeks to tell our boys just in case I would miscarry, we didn't want to get there hopes up just to let them down. But after the 12 weeks came and went we thought we were safe so we told them. They were so excited that they were going to have a new brother or sister.

It was a wonderful Christmas present to our families. We had found out that my husband and I were expecting early in December and told our families as they were gathering around for Christmas Dinner. My husband stands up and says “Don’t mind Jessie’s full plate, she is eating for two now!” Everyone was so excited and we laughed imagining me having fun down at the lake all summer with a big ole belly.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  Jeremiah 29:11    That is my life verse.  A verse I have treasured ever since I became a Christian many years ago.   I knew that choosing to accept Jesus as my personal Savior didn’t mean that I would suddenly lead a charmed life, free from heartaches or suffering, but I truly never thought I would have to go through  what our family did in 2007-2008.

The experience of carrying twins for six months had been extremely exciting for me.  Jack and Kate already weighed about one pound each and were starting to share their personalities in ultrasound videos. Kate was the athletic one and Jack liked to pose for perfect profile photos. They already had fingernails, hair and eyebrows. They could grip their hands, kick their feet, suck their thumbs and hear our voices. Just before flying to China for a brief work trip, my husband bought a belly band so he could place headphones on my tummy to share music with them.

I am the face of Ectopic Pregnancy and Miscarriage BUT now I'm also the face of Early Miscarriage.

Dec. 12.2010 I decided to take a pregnancy test to ease my thoughts on me being late. I was only a week late but with the medicine the doctors gave me for my type 2 diabetes,I was having my period every month. So I used a test that came with my ovulation kit. I waited for 15 minutes before I actually looked at it and it was a light positive. So I took another one again an light positive. So I emailed my friend a picture of the test and asked "does this mean I'm pregnant?" She sent me a email with a big smiley face and said YUP.

My husband and I decided 2 months after we got married that it was time to start a family. After over a year and a half of trying, with the help of Clomid, my 3rd cycle we got our BFP, June 25,2010.  I was happier than I had ever been.  And then the bleeding started.

We were going to be such a happy little family! My pregnancy was going well and I never could have imagined that anything would happen that would take my precious little baby away from me.

Lost February 21st, 2009 at 19 weeks 4 days
Rockingham, Western Australia

On the 21st of February 2009 our baby girl grew her wings.  The day before our nightmare began when I went for a routine scan at 19wk 3days. I had arrived at the clinic 30 minutes early because I was so exited.  I was taken through almost straight away as they where running on time. I sat up on the table and the ultrasound began, I knew straight away something did not look right my heart started to sink but there was a strong heart beat and kept telling myself that with all medical breakthroughs there are today that they would be able to fix it. I was wrong.

I had always loved children, have the biggest love for them ever since the age of 12. I babysat families babies ages infant to 9 years old. Worked in a daycare & was a nanny for a 3 month old baby boy & soon a few months later his baby sister. I dreamed about the day I would be able to have my own someday! I just had that natural love care for children.

Mom to Adam James
November 13th, 2010 - January 11th, 2011
Pasadena, Maryland

Adam had a cold a few days before the hospitalization that led to his death. He was our fussy little guy, but with his cold, his fussiness increased. He slept a lot and when he was awake, he fussed. He had a lot of congestion, which made it difficult for him to eat. We were constantly using the bulb syringe to help him breathe better. Around 10:30 pm on 1-9-11, I fed Adam and then gave him to my husband so that I could go to bed. Adam was smiling and coo'ing away with my husband, and we both sat back and enjoyed it for about a half hour since this was the first time we saw Adam be so happy in a few days. We both even asked him if he was feeling better. Around 11:30 or so, I headed to bed and my husband stayed up with Adam.

December 2009 was a big time in my life. December 5 I was turning 30 and December 16 I was graduating nursing school. I was so happy and excited and I felt like I was on top of the world, that my life could really now “begin”. We would soon be trying to start a family; life was good. Unfortunately, this was my first lesson in “life doesn’t go according to plan”. I had struggled that last semester of nursing school and when it all came down to it, I had to end up withdrawing and taking that last semester all over again. I was so devastated and so mad that the beginning of 2010 wasn’t what I expected, and I started the semester/year out with a lot of negativity.

On October 30, 2008, we found out that we were expecting our second child. We were beyond thrilled. We didn't share the news with many people in the beginning. With the holidays coming up, we thought it would be the perfect time to tell our families. I went out and bought a Big Brother shirt for Matthew so we could tell our families by having him wear it. I actually bought it to tell my husband but it kinda backfired on me. We had planned on telling my family on Thanksgiving but some unexpected doctor appointments came up so I finally had to tell my mom so she could help watch our son while I went to my doctors appointments. They were so happy that we were having another baby. We had planned on telling my husbands parents at Christmas time since they live out of state and this was our year to be there for Christmas but the weather changed all of that. My husband ended up telling them over the phone. They were also very excited.
