Mine & My Husband’s journey began in January of 2006.  This was eight months after Dave & I got married.  We wanted to have children and because of my age (35), and my past history of endometriosis and fertility challenges with my ex-husband, we went straight to a fertility clinic.  On our first consultation, the bloodwork showed I was pregnant, imagine our surprise!  This turned out to be a biochemical pregnancy and began a long road of fertility challenges.

My husband and I got married in April of 2009 and because we were both over 35, we decided to start trying to have a baby right away.  I went off birth control in May and we started trying in July of 09.  I really didn't think I would have any trouble conceiving, as I have a daughter from a previous relationship, although she was 18 years old at the time and I realized that my age might bring more complications.

Where do I begin. I have so many unhappy endings. Well, I guess I'll start at the beginning with my very first pregnancy. 

On Christmas Eve 2002, I had a sneaking suspicion that I may be expecting, so I took a pregnancy test. To my surprise it was positive. I was so excited! 11 days later I was arguing with my boyfriend at the time and began have severe cramping and pain. There was no bleeding, so I decided to lay down for a while in hopes that the pain would subside. It got worse. I went to the ER and explained that I was about 6 weeks pregnant. Blood work was drawn and it confirmed that I was indeed pregnant, but when an ultrasound was performed, no embryo could be seen. It was immediately suspected that the pregnancy was ectopic and could not be saved. I was so heartbroken.

We knew pregnancy would be complicated due to my preexisting diabetes. My OB was on top of it and worked hard getting my insurance to approve a state funded program for pregnant diabetics to control my blood sugars as well as diet.

After five happy years of marriage, my husband Jason and I decided that it was time to expand our family.  Boy, were we surprised when I got pregnant immediately!  I got my BFP on a Saturday morning.  We and I were both standing in the bathroom, watching as the two lines began to materialize on the test.  We were nervous but excited!  I called my OB and scheduled my first appointment.  It was basically a consult visit.  I remember sitting in an office to find out what insurance would cover, then having bloodwork drawn.  I signed all sorts of forms.  We left with hospital information packets and formula samples.  We were on Cloud 9!
