My husband and I got married in March 2003 and started trying right away to have a baby. We both wanted a few kids and were so excited I thought it would happen right away. After a year of no success I went to my dr and didn't get much help just got told I'm young (was 24 at the time) and to keep trying.

After we moved I found a new dr that was much more helpful and proactive. A bunch of tests were run and they couldn't find anything wrong. After some time I was sent to see a specialist (a RE) and after 3 IUI's that were unsuccessful we moved on to IVF. The specialist also ran tests on my husband and I and diagnosed us with  unexplained infertility.

Finally our second ivf took. I was so excited when I found out we were having twins. I was so nervous our first trimester, but once I was discharged from the specialist and went to my ob they told me how great everything was going and that they didn't consider me high risk. Looking back I wish they would have gone over risks with me and told me what to look out for.

We got a guess of genders at our NT scan and found out when I delivered they were right - a boy and a girl. Everything was going great until at a little over 18 weeks I got home from work ready to take a shower, when all of a sudden a clear liquid dripped down my leg with a little blood. I screamed for my husband and he rushed me to the hospital. They took me right up to labor and delivery. Did an ultrasound and also ran a test to see if it was amniontic fluid. Both babies still looked good on the ultrasound screen and they set me up in a room till the morning when I could see a specialist. In the morning I went for more tests and everything still seemed fine, even though Zachary's fluid was low, they said it was still enough and I would probably have to go on bedrest. They monitored me for a few more days and on the morning I was set to be discharged for bedrest I went into labor.

I was exactly 19 weeks.I will never forget the tears in my husbands eyes when he found out we were losing our babies.  I got an epidural but it didn't take and it was the most painful day of my life. I had to be taken into surgery after I delivered because one of the placenta's wouldn't deliver. They kept me overnight and I was discharged the next day. I took a few weeks off work and had a follow up with my ob.

All the testing came back and it looks like my cervix opened early, I developed an infection which is why my water broke and I went into labor early. She told me next time I will get a cerclage at 13 weeks. So we go back to the specialist in January and they run about 17 vials of bloodwork and make sure everything is good before we begin treatment again. We did a FET cycle in march, but unfortunately it didn't take. So we do IVF cycle #3 in June/July and get a positive. Unfortunately I suffered an early loss.

Right now we are just taking a break from treatments and hoping for a miracle that we can get pregnant on our own before returning for a FET cycle with the specialist.
