Mom to Judy Amena
Born Still December 22nd, 2010
Arlington, Virginia

I became pregnant with my first child in April, 2010. My husband and I were thrilled and the pregnancy was unbelievably easy for the first several months. All of my prenatal appointment went well and I never had morning sickness or any seriously bothersome symptoms. Like every new mother, I was very anxious to see my baby, and so I did an elective 3-d ultrasound around 18 weeks. We found out we were having a girl, and I was thrilled. However, the first tech left us for a very long time during the ultrasound and when she came back in she had her co-worker with her. The co-worker was acting very strangely with us, but neither said a word about what they saw as the continued the ultrasound. When my mother asked if the baby looked okay, she simply waved her hands back and forth and said “we don’t EVEN LOOK for that sort of thing”. Although I noticed that their behavior was very strange, I was so excited that ignored it completely.

Mom to David Allen
Stillborn January 11th, 2010
Gilmer, Texas

My name is Amber Watts and I am the mother to a beautiful Angel Baby named David Allen.  My Husband, Bill and I have been together for 13 wonderful years. When we met, I was 18 and he was 32. Even with the age difference, we knew we were meant to be together. He had been married before and had 3 kids with his first wife. After their third child, he had a vasectomy. So when we met 6 years later, I knew he couldn't have kids. At 18 I didn't care. Back then I thought I would never want kids! After a few years of being together the ol' maternal clock started ticking and there was nothing I wanted more than to be a mom! So we started searching for doctors that did vas-reversals.

Missed Miscarriage

You know "they" say once you're pregnant your whole world changes, it's true, your whole world does change from the moment you see the two lines, a plus, or if using one of those digital tests "pregnant" in big bold letters. Our baby wasn't planned but we loved him/her from the moment we found out. Only to have all that hope and happiness thrown out.

My husband and I were in the process of moving back home closer to family when I found out I was pregnant.  I surprised him on our two year anniversary with the pregnancy test hidden under his gift I was giving him.  It seemed like perfect timing and that everything was just meant to be.

I got pregnant in December 2009. I am a teen so at first it seemed like a bad situation but I knew I was made to be a mother. Abortion or Adoption never crossed my mind. I knew I wanted to love and be with my child, and my entire pregnancy I studied, researched, and prepared for my beautiful son. I put my whole self into every decision I made for him and when he finally entered this world on September, 14th, 2010, my whole life changed. I was so ready to be a parent. I loved my son so much already.

After several years of fertility treatments, we were overjoyed (and truthfully a bit anxious) to find out that we were going to have twins. Twins…I couldn’t believe it… of all the emotions that I felt, joy is the one I still hold on to. We had lost a child to an early miscarriage more than a year earlier, so we decided to keep our news to ourselves until after my first trimester. At 13 weeks, we couldn’t believe it- we had made it through the first trimester and everyone was doing well.

Miscarried at 8 weeks
Redding, California

A week before Christmas, I was on the internet looking at baby names. My husband asked suspiciously, “You’re not adopting any more pets, are you?” “No,” I replied, “I think I’m pregnant.” He laughed. I was on the pill and hadn’t missed a period or experienced any signs of pregnancy, so it certainly didn’t seem likely. Despite never being pregnant before, I insisted that I ‘felt’ pregnant. Three days later I took a test and saw a positive.

I didn't know on that day that things were going to go horribly wrong. I knew that I was leaking a small bit of fluid, but maybe it wasn't fluid, maybe I was being overcautious. None the less, I called my Mother in Law to come look after Jenna, my two year old, while I ran to the hospital. I really didn't think anything was serious.. I was singing in the truck on the way into town for God's sake! I grabbed a bite before I went up to emergency... I was just going to make sure everything was alright.... It wasn't.

Mommy to Austin Liam
January 2nd, 2008
Adams, New York

On April 28th, 2007, I found out I was pregnant for my firstborn son, Austin. I was 17 at the time and scared to death but I was happily going through with the pregnancy. I went to the doctor that my boyfriend's mom recommended because she had him with her last son...and I wish that I had gone with my first instincts about him because he turned out to be the last person who should have taken care of us. He was very opinionated even going as far as to tell me that I was too young to be having a baby. That may have been, but I believe that it was completely unprofessional to say that to me.

Thursday Oct 28th, 2010.

I was 37weeks 4 days pregnant with our 3rd and what we were calling, our last, addition to the family. Everything was in place, planned, prepped and ready for her arrival. I had been preparing for my first natural homebirth for the last 9 months and was extremely excited for labor to begin. The entire pg was excellent, healthy and the most active baby I have ever carried. I thought for sure she was going to be a huge child and very active (that or there were 2 in there).

May 3, 2009 is a day I will never forget.  Although many of the memories are vague in my mind, I will never forget the reality of that day! May 2, was a beautiful Saturday filled with joy and laughter. I woke up anxious and exited to start the day. I was having a baby shower at our church and, although I was nervous due to the fact that I am not very fond of social gatherings with me as the center of attention, I was still elated.

It was a Friday like any other Friday. J woke up and got ready for work. As he got out of the shower, I woke up and jumped in the shower. J left for work, and I finished getting ready. This was our routine for the last 4 months. Once I got dressed, hair done, makeup done I made a cup of coffee and got S' breakfast ready. Fruit and milk. I could hear her little gibberish over the speaker of the baby monitor. I peeked in on her and she was slowly starting to stir. I turned on her mobile and closed the door, knowing this would keep her attention for awhile bit longer as I continued to get prepared for the day.

February 4th, 2011, born alive at 5:25 a.m., passed away at 7:00 a.m.
San Francisco, California

Dear Friends and Family and fellow survivors,

It is with unimaginable sadness I share the loss of both of our little girls,Tierney Faith Ibarra and Eden Hope Ibarra. I had a very uneventful five months of pregnancy until January 14th. I noticed a change with my discharge and a bit of blood and went to get "checked out". Within an hour our lives were flipped upside down when they told us that  I was dilated and they could see membrane. I had no signs of labor and was in complete shock.

Mom to Boe

229 days.  That is how long I carried my precious baby boys.  My husband and I found out 14 weeks into our 2nd pregnancy that I was carrying spontaneous triplet boys.  It was a set of identical twins and a singleton.  A,B and C; then, once we found out all 3 were boys, Adler, Boe and Cameron.  My pregnancy was a pretty easy one, all things considered.  I had weekly doctor's visits and always got good reports.  Boe was always a bit smaller, but the doctor said he was still within normal range, and it is to be expected that there will be a smaller one in a multiple pregnancy.

I went into my 39 week doctors appointment Tuesday morning and it was just like every other routine appointment. He checked my cervix and I was 2cm, then he went to listen to her heartbeat and he couldn't find it. He took me in to check on the ultrasound and he still couldn't find it. I was sent to an imaging center to check on a better machine.... still nothing! This was the worse news ever.

My husband, Billy, and I were married on June 21, 2008. The first day of summer. One year later to the day, we decided that it was time to start to grow our family. In September, I found myself in the bathroom, staring with disbelief at the home pregnancy test. There were two lines. Two lines! When I told Billy, it was still with disbelief, not wanting to allow myself to get my hopes up too much. We decided to do a second one, you know, in case the first was a fluke. The result was the same, but Billy insisted I go get one of the tests that had the words on them. "Pregnant" Twice. Four pregnancy tests, all positive. Can't get much more sure than that!

It took my husband and I almost three years to get pregnant. We spent a full year trying to get pregnant on our own before we finally went to the doctor frustrated, angry, and exhausted. After almost two years of medications and having surgery to open my tubes we finally got pregnant in August 2010. It sounds funny, but I was shocked. I had just been so used to the negative pregnancy tests that the positive one did not seem real. Right from the start I was terrified that I was going to lose this pregnancy.

Mom to Gabriel Benjamin
Stillborn at 18 weeks on August 12th, 2010

My husband, Ben, and I have always wanted a lot of kids and have been so thankful for the chance to be parents, especially after struggling with infertility before we had any. We knew for sure that we always wanted to have at least four, but were always open to more. After being blessed with our first four, two boys and two girls, we really felt like we were meant to have another. We prayed about it and knew it was right and on May 3, 2010 when our pregnancy test was positive after trying to conceive for only a month, we were so excited. We felt so blessed for the chance to be parents again to another precious child.

I always heard people talking about problems getting pregnant and coming across discussion forums of women having trouble conceiving.  I never thought in my wildest dream that one day I would be posting on a forum about my fertility.  I guess that’s why they say never say never.  My husband and I were just shy of our first year wedding anniversary when we decided we were going to start trying for our first child.  We were so excited.

I am 33 years old and my husband and I have been trying to conceive our first child since January 2009. For a long time I thought I would never be married.  I have mild cerebral palsy which affects my left side and I was always aware that this might put some guys off.  But my biggest obstacle to meeting someone was myself - I didn't have much confidence.

My husband and I decided to start a family about six months after we were married in September of 1999. After a year of trying we made an appointment and did the whole fertility workup, but the doctor couldn’t find any reason why we weren’t conceiving. Another year went by with no luck and we were at the point of pursuing further testing.

During the second half of my pregnancy with Charlotte I noticed that it was very different from when I was pregnant with my first daughter Lorelei.  I couldn't feel her move as much, but I chalked it up to the anterior placenta and moving around too much to notice her movement.  At each appointment I would voice my concerns to my doctors who told me to check twice a day, morning and night.  And so I did.

On November 6th I was watching Toy Story 3 with my friends Aaron and Nicole, I went the bathroom (as I frequently do) and noticed some strange discharge so I called the doctor she said if no cramps or bleeding it should be fine. I felt fine and had no issues. I woke up the next day with Sean around 3am, and something just didn't feel right, he had to go to work, so I didn't say anything, I waited until around 4am and called the emergency line again. I was in Labor and Deliver by 5am.

My darling first born died four days before he was due. It was, of course, a perfect pregnancy. Low risk, the midwives kept saying. They were so blase about me, I was referred to the birth centre where it was intended that I would deliver my baby in water. That was until that fateful Thursday when I noticed a subtle change in his movements. In short, he had died some time when I was oblivious and happy and washing his clothes.

I guess my story starts in 2005 when I meet my husband Eddie. I already had a son when I meet him and we had our 2nd son in 2006. In March of 2010 we got married at the church that we attend. We had been talking for a year about wanting to have another baby but wanted to wait till after we got married so we started trying after the wedding. It took a couple months but sure an enough a couple days after my birthday I took a test and it was positive. We were so happy that we were having another little Stephenson growing inside me. We told all the family and close friends but wanted to wait till after the first 12 weeks to tell our boys just in case I would miscarry, we didn't want to get there hopes up just to let them down. But after the 12 weeks came and went we thought we were safe so we told them. They were so excited that they were going to have a new brother or sister.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  Jeremiah 29:11    That is my life verse.  A verse I have treasured ever since I became a Christian many years ago.   I knew that choosing to accept Jesus as my personal Savior didn’t mean that I would suddenly lead a charmed life, free from heartaches or suffering, but I truly never thought I would have to go through  what our family did in 2007-2008.

The experience of carrying twins for six months had been extremely exciting for me.  Jack and Kate already weighed about one pound each and were starting to share their personalities in ultrasound videos. Kate was the athletic one and Jack liked to pose for perfect profile photos. They already had fingernails, hair and eyebrows. They could grip their hands, kick their feet, suck their thumbs and hear our voices. Just before flying to China for a brief work trip, my husband bought a belly band so he could place headphones on my tummy to share music with them.

Dec. 12.2010 I decided to take a pregnancy test to ease my thoughts on me being late. I was only a week late but with the medicine the doctors gave me for my type 2 diabetes,I was having my period every month. So I used a test that came with my ovulation kit. I waited for 15 minutes before I actually looked at it and it was a light positive. So I took another one again an light positive. So I emailed my friend a picture of the test and asked "does this mean I'm pregnant?" She sent me a email with a big smiley face and said YUP.

On the 21st of February 2009 our baby girl grew her wings.  The day before our nightmare began when I went for a routine scan at 19wk 3days. I had arrived at the clinic 30 minutes early because I was so exited.  I was taken through almost straight away as they where running on time. I sat up on the table and the ultrasound began, I knew straight away something did not look right my heart started to sink but there was a strong heart beat and kept telling myself that with all medical breakthroughs there are today that they would be able to fix it. I was wrong.

Adam had a cold a few days before the hospitalization that led to his death. He was our fussy little guy, but with his cold, his fussiness increased. He slept a lot and when he was awake, he fussed. He had a lot of congestion, which made it difficult for him to eat. We were constantly using the bulb syringe to help him breathe better. Around 10:30 pm on 1-9-11, I fed Adam and then gave him to my husband so that I could go to bed. Adam was smiling and coo'ing away with my husband, and we both sat back and enjoyed it for about a half hour since this was the first time we saw Adam be so happy in a few days. We both even asked him if he was feeling better. Around 11:30 or so, I headed to bed and my husband stayed up with Adam.

December 2009 was a big time in my life. December 5 I was turning 30 and December 16 I was graduating nursing school. I was so happy and excited and I felt like I was on top of the world, that my life could really now “begin”. We would soon be trying to start a family; life was good. Unfortunately, this was my first lesson in “life doesn’t go according to plan”. I had struggled that last semester of nursing school and when it all came down to it, I had to end up withdrawing and taking that last semester all over again. I was so devastated and so mad that the beginning of 2010 wasn’t what I expected, and I started the semester/year out with a lot of negativity.

On October 30, 2008, we found out that we were expecting our second child. We were beyond thrilled. We didn't share the news with many people in the beginning. With the holidays coming up, we thought it would be the perfect time to tell our families. I went out and bought a Big Brother shirt for Matthew so we could tell our families by having him wear it. I actually bought it to tell my husband but it kinda backfired on me. We had planned on telling my family on Thanksgiving but some unexpected doctor appointments came up so I finally had to tell my mom so she could help watch our son while I went to my doctors appointments. They were so happy that we were having another baby. We had planned on telling my husbands parents at Christmas time since they live out of state and this was our year to be there for Christmas but the weather changed all of that. My husband ended up telling them over the phone. They were also very excited.
